TCJ My-Stock DB Editing Lookup Lists Filling in your collection is made easy by the offering lists of choices applicable to the part being added. For example, if a tube is being added, TCJ My-Stock DB loads the Brand, Group, Style, and Vendor drop-down boxes with entries that apply only to tubes and leaves out items that would only make sense with another part, such as a transistor. In greater detail, tubes were made by Arcturus and Ken-Rad, come in diodes, triodes, tetrodes and pentodes, have 4-pin and octal bases, and are available from Antique Electronic Supply—none of which is true of transistors. On the other hand, transistors are made by Texas Instruments and Zetex, come in NPN and PNP, are packed in Dip-4 and TO-39 packages, and are sold by Digikey and Mouser. Thus, each part type must have its own set of lists; TCJ My-Stock DB provides these lists.
The lists fall into two types: those that are part-type specific and those that are common to all part types. The part-type specific lists have been enumerated; the lists common to all are part Condition, part Locations, Projects, and Status. Every list can be modified easily. The first step is to choose which type of list to edit. The next step is to pick a list. (In the case of part-specific lists, a part type must first be selected.) Then, list items can be added, deleted, or edited. The last step is to press the “Post Edits” button, which will commit the changes for future use. |
